If you don't have your own website though, it might be better for you to find where to host your podcast for free as creating a website can be difficult.

However, if you do have your own website or know how to get one, then follow my guide!

Getting Started Online

A podcast is a themed audio blog with one or more hosts. You can listen to it online or download it to your device. Each issue is a separate topic or story. In fact, this is a recorded and posted on the Internet address of the host podcast to the audience.

The main difference between a podcast and radio is the ability to choose a genre and topic and listen at any convenient time.

If you are interested in learning how to host a podcast on your own website, there are several steps that you need to take. First of all, decide what niche you want to target. The first step is to look up information on how to do this. Once you know the niche, start making some posts in blogs and forums related to the niche.

Next, you will need to create a website where you will be hosting your podcast. Most programs on how to host a podcast are very user-friendly and simple. There is a basic format that you will need to follow when it comes to how to set up your site, and it might be easier to use an  optimized WordPress   solution that will require less knowledge and management.

A few people make it very complicated, but if you stick with it, you should be fine.

Step one: pick a domain name

Step one is to pick a domain name for your podcast. Make sure that it is relevant and descriptive. You do not want your listeners to have to scroll down your page to get information about your show. It will just get confusing and will not get your listeners hooked on to your show.

Step two: host your website

Step two is to install a content management system such as  the WordPress   blogging system, and add a podcast plugin management on your hosting - in our opinion, the  Interserver hosting   is great as it doesn't limit the bandwith, which might be an issue once your podcast will become successful and will be downloaded often.

This is probably the easiest solution how to host a podcast on your website, and allows you to manage everything without having to develop your own website, while another solution is to use a podcast host that will allow you to use your own domain name but then you won't have full control on the uploaded audio.

Step three: create your podcast episodes

Step three is create your podcast episodes before you can upload any on your own hosting. You will need to use a web browser on your computer or a program that will download your podcasts. First you of course need to create your podcast episodes, for example using an open source jingle and interviewing a guest for 30 minutes, and then eventually doing a bit of editing on your computer.

But before that, try recording your own voice yourself, using a free recording program on your computer, online, or a software you are already using such as MS PowerPoint for example.

Then, listen to your recording and check if everything is fine and audible: you might be better off getting a good microphone for podcasting to get the highest podcast recording quality possible and create episodes that will be pleasant to listen to. To keep your microphone in place, you might also need a tripod to be able to place it where it will best catch your voice.

Step four: upload the podcast episode

Step four is to upload the finished podcast episode to your website. Your listeners will be able to access your podcasts via their browser.

Once they find the podcast that they like, they will need to click on the link at the bottom of the screen to open the page to play the audio file. Once they have played the audio, they will then be taken to your web page.

If you have your own domain name and website such as a WordPress blog, even better: you can host your podcast videos for free on players such as the free Ezoic video player and have your podcast episodes directly ranking on search engines, and being monetized with a much higher RPM than you would have on YouTube: more than 90% of advertising revenue shared with you on Ezoic, against only 50% of advertising revenue shared on YouTube – and only when your channel is large enough to be monetized on the famous video hosting platform.
