Shiv Gupta: Optimize “About Us” Section

You should consider optimizing the section that best aligns with your brand. Provide a general description, a mission, company information, or your story with brief, or contact information. By doing so, your audience can get a sense of what your Page represents before they decide to Like it.

When it comes to branding of a Facebook business page, it’s essential to use the best and relevant image for your profile and cover that will depict what your business is about.

Sarah Nadler: optimize for mobile viewing

My biggest tip for branding your business on social media is to optimize for mobile viewing. This is especially a concern with businesses who place an offer or lead magnet in their Facebook Cover image. Ensure your design dimensions are set correctly so the offer or photo appears just as aesthetically pleasing on mobile as it does for a desktop viewer.

As you can see in this example, we center the offer on the cover image, so it appears ideal no matter what device the viewer uses.

The truth is, Business pages get very little engagement. You want to actually capture the people who visit, so you can start a long term brand journey for them. By inviting them into a private group, you get to sprinkle them with content for the long term and even get to know visitors on a personal level. Plus, when prospects see that you have a community where you provide free and engaging support (inside your Facebook group), they start to know, like, and trust you!

Since I've pinned my Facebook group, my group has grown by over 1,000 qualified leads, who come into the group ready for an actual conversation (think: top of sales funnel!).

Note: Don't link your Group to your Page! You want organic clicking into your group- it will help your business page get more engagement, and your group will grow organically (both things the Facebook algorithm likes!).

One tip to improve your Facebook business page's branding is to make sure you link out from the business page to your business, or personal if you don't have business set up yet, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and/or other social channels you and your business are active on. Having active social handles linked out to on your Facebook business page‌ establishes legitimacy of your business with your audience making your Facebook business page‌ look and feel more professional.

Yusuf Onabekun: Always put out good content with a powerful image or video to support it

Constant posting put your page at an advantage when people search on Facebook platform.

If you have something to say, put it out there; it may not sound right initially but along the line, you will get better with it.

Note posting constantly will kill your page and this will put it at a big disadvantage for your business.

I have had my business page for a while but no activity seems to be happening on it, so I decided to carry out an experiment by pushing various content out on it. I came to realize that Facebook loves a good story with sharp graphic with it, this prompted me to start following such and to an extent; a good turn of event happen.

This position my page in a very good light and more professional in my field.

Rizwan: the banner provides a huge space to market and improve brand recognition

One of the most important aspect of a Facebook business page‌ is the banner, Facebook provides a huge space to upload your own banner and fortunately we able to use this space to market and improve our brand recognition. This can simply be an elegant image of a product or text of a service you offer. We have added part of a popular product on our Facebook page to signify the quality of product we sell. As a business it is important to take advantage of this area offered by Facebook as this is the first part of a page that will grab the attention of the visitor who will then go onto decide and scroll down should they feel the page is appealing and applies to them.

Elisabeth Jakovenko: Know your audience, be consistent with content for them, and be relevant

These are 3 essentials: demographic – relevancy – consistency. You get one shot at scoring the goal, so you have to learn the demographic you’re targeting for your specific campaign, brand, etc. When you find this, you want to incorporate both relevancy with consistency. If you are not posting QUALITY content frequently, you may get a nice return in numbers for an individual post, but it will disappear if it isn’t consistent. Audiences like to see new and timely content.

When I was an influencer with 3 million followers, I knew in order to maintain and grow my audience, I had to be topical and “on brand” to what I was portraying which was comedy and impressions. I released a short video around Christmas time about a girl who loves to sing but pretends she doesn’t. Although it was 6 seconds, it was relevant, targeted my demographic, and maintained my consistency with posting. This resulted in half a million likes and reposts and 50 million loops which are all still growing to this day.

Know your audience, be consistent with content for them, and be relevant. Authenticity is key.

Alexander Porter: Video - More than a buzzword in the marketing world, video is the future.

You only need to think of your own browsing habits to see how this applies. Would you rather read an article on '10 ways to scale up in 2020'...or watch a short and snappy 2 minute video that teaches you everything you need to know?

Recent stats have shown people will spend roughly 100 minutes a day watching videos by 2021.

You can tap into this desire for visual media to explode your branding and drive exposure.

At Search It Local we've phased out our static content, instead focusing on video content to drive engagement.

Not only does this increase our reach by roughly double, but we bring people into the top of our funnel and generate awareness.

Our videos receive 3x more shares than our photos previously did.

And with an increase to the number of views on our YouTube page we are also seeing new streams of referral traffic move from Facebook to YouTube.

This is a simple but insanely powerful hack - start posting videos that are short, sharp and full of free tips to make your audience's lives better.

You'll notice a quick increase in reach and engagement.

Charlie Worrall: make sure that you're narrowing down your niche

The best tip I can offer is to make sure that you're narrowing down your niche before you start to market your business on Facebook. Being able to say; this is my niche is important because most people will see that you specialise in that particular application and you'll be more likely to win work. After you become a specialist in that field, you'll start to develop a client base, get referrals and you can then start to branch out into other areas that go hand in hand with your speciality!

A great example is if you're a web designer/developer you can specialise in ecommerce websites for a start. You're more likely to get work because you focus on one kind of project and people will think that you're better qualified to help them. After some time, you'll be able to branch out and take on most projects, even if they aren't an ecommerce.

Tom Winter: the About section provides all the information about your company

People oftentimes focus on the visuals on their Facebook pages that they neglect the content in the ‘About’ section. This, however, is one of the most important parts as it provides all the information about your company, its vision and area of expertise.

There is no space for lengthy content here which means that your description needs to be sharp and always on point. Invest some time into crafting a catchy intro that will interest people enough to make them visit your website or learn more about the work you do. When you fill out the About section, don’t leave any spaces blank. Remember, this is your chance to make the first impression and the last thing you want is to have information missing.

Lastly, don’t fall for the ‘salesy’ language in your description. Yes, you want to attract people, but the content you provide should have a certain value instead of it being highly promotional.

Osama Mushtaq: Choose the right category for your business page

Choose the right category for your business page. First thing's first: You need a business page and not a personal profile.

The change means business pages can't be created unless there is a personal account tied to it. Facebook requires every page to have an administrator who can manage the profile and assign roles to other admins or contributors. This is only possible through tying the admin's personal account to the business page

Shawn Breyer: we use Facebook Live to implement Intent Based Branding

We use Facebook Live to implement a strategy that Frank Kern has coined Intent Based Branding. We do daily live videos on topics that help people in our niche. Our goal is to put out a ton of helpful and actionable content that builds goodwill with our audience. With each Live video, we casually make an offer that if they want to work with our company, then head over to our website and fill out the form on the site.

When people land on our site, the traffic is warmer. Since they have an idea of what to expect from our company, they don't just bounce right off. A decrease in bounce rates and people spending more time on our site tells Google that our site is relevant to the audience landing it. This has improved our rankings for our site, allowing us to rank in the top three spots for most of the keywords that we are targeting.

Meg Marrs: don't be afraid to alter things to work with the Facebook medium

My tip? Keep your brand colors and style, but don't be afraid to alter things a bit to work with the Facebook medium. Since Facebook uses a round profile photo for the business logo, we cropped our logo and altered it a bit to look better within Facebook's round logo space. This allows our logo to be displayed more prominently without extra un-necessary white space.

Oliver Andrews: Whatever you do, you must talk about your brand

1. So the first step in mastering how to use Facebook for business is to set up your Facebook page. You must add a logo, a cover image, information about us, username, CTA, website URL, etc.

2. Whatever you do, you must talk about your brand. Whether you put up some cool stuff for users or run a contest to attract viewers on your page, it should all be directly linked to your brand. This will play an important role in putting the brand name on people's minds.

3. If you follow the 80-20 rule:

  • Use 80% of your Facebook posts to inform, educate and entertain
  • Use the other 20% to promote your brand

4. Optimize your audience and, if necessary, use paid ads on Facebook.

I am working on one of my client's Facebook pages where I applied all the strategies and it really works. So, I would suggest that people should also follow these tips.

Maria Grace LLC: not every page is actually optimized to drive traffic to the website

Every brand has a Facebook page, but not every brand's page is actually optimized to drive traffic from Facebook to the business' website. Use the header image to direct visitors to a free resource or download that allows you to capture their email address and/or information for remarketing campaigns and email newsletters. Create a header with captivating imagery and a single call-to-action that speaks to the core of the business.

An example can be found here

Using a simple call-to-action will keep visitors engaged longer, and creates cohesiveness between social media platforms and the business website. Because the header is the most prominent part of the page, it is an extremely useful piece of digital real estate. Just remember that headers appear differently on various devices from desktop to mobile, so be sure your graphics are optimized for both!

Nelson Sherwin: Come Up With A Unique Logo & Color Scheme

The best advice I can give you is definitely designing a logo, font and cohesive color story that you use across all posts and branding. The visual impact is extremely important because it’s the first - and sometimes, only - thing people notice. Slap a distinctive logo on your posts and people will come to recognize the logo and your specific colors before even reading the post. That is the kind of branding recognition you are striving for. Your branding and marketing must remain consistent and cohesive across posts and across different platforms in order to build a strong brand identity that is instantly recognizable. Once you’ve reached this stage, you’ve become a household name.

Bernie Wong: post consistently with a specific tone, voice, and visual style

My one tip for improving the branding on your Facebook business page‌ is to post consistently with a specific tone, voice, and visual style (a specific style that stands out as uniquely yours).

Some people will focus too much on a single or a few posts, but Facebook’s organic reach per post is less than 2%. Being consistent is more important and will make a bigger impact on your reach, the engagement you receive on your business page, and the number of people who consistently see your content and become familiar with your page.

Samit Patel: it’s all about standing out

Having worked with 100s of brands and raised over $31 million for new business launches we've learnt that it's all about standing out. A lot of products or companies try to put a faceless brand. If you have created new trainer shoes for example called 'Sams' and are going up against 'Nike' you'll probably not be able to stand out, as Nike has invested billions behind the brand.

But what if you put your face behind the brand and get on a video, saying hey I'm the creator of Sams, as a person with back pain I wanted to create a trainer that would be able to support my on-going issues.Thats why I created 'Sams'.

Using a personal brand we've seen to massively increase engagement with users over a boring post, you can see examples of a new company using it here:

One of the most effective ways to enhance your brand awareness using Facebook business page‌ is adding Facebook Recommendations to the business page. Tommia Hayes: Create attention grabbing cover and profile pictures

When improving your Facebook business, one thing to add on your list should be updating your cover and profile. You typically have 30 seconds to grab user’s attention and this is the first thing they see. The more engaging these images are, the more you’ll attract visitors. When designing these images, make sure it recognizable to your brand and are optimize for both mobile and desktop images. This tip has helped me in the past and recently to increase likes on Facebook pages I’ve managed and increase engagement for posts.
