But how to become a successful influencer? It is clearly not down to buying followers which will never interact with your content, and you'll need to succeed in influencer marketing as well in order to sustain in the business.

After running my Instagram account for the better part of 8 years, I can confidently say that the combination of content quality and engaging captions are the most important things to becoming successful on instagram.

Some people say posting daily is important, but I say it's more vital to make sure that each and every image you post is beautiful, on-brand and edited well. Your post needs to bring in attention that will cause the user to stop for a moment in their endless social media scroll. It's worth spending time learning how to edit photos beautifully using Lightroom or Photoshop, and developing a uniform style and color scheme so all the posts on your feed go well together. It's also worth getting an app to plan out your feed in advance to make sure it looks good, because this is the first thing someone sees when they click your page!

Then, each image should be accompanied by a genuine caption, story, piece of advice, or long idea that will keep the user on your post for a longer amount of time and make them feel they relate to you. If you can create a common ground with a user AND have incredible posts, thjey will be more likely to follow you.

I started pursuing an Influencer career about two years ago when I felt that what was missing in the influencing world was a community focused on women, healthy living and mental wellness. I focused on creating a supportive environment of nutrition tips, recipes, and personal growth inspiration. I feel strongly that healthy living can look different for every person but that each person can resonate with an article. My biggest tip as an influencer is to be truly authentic and come from a place that is real and honest. Too often, an influencer focuses on the perfect lifestyle or perfect aesthetic and that, while an inspirational feed, is not truly relatable with a larger audience. Creating a community where women feel safe and inspired to connect is much more important than a beautifully curated feed.

My number one tip is to be creative, yet never stray from your theme. This means do not steal or repost content from other Instagram accounts.

Create your own unique personality and do not stray from it. This will lead to a higher engagement rate and better visitor retention.

Check out other successful accounts in your niche and research what they do. Everyone successful on Instagram never strays from their overall theme. See how they make their images individual yet also cohesive. Nobody likes a copycat or a mishmash of unrelated content. Ultimately, I've found that if you do not do this, you will never get the engagement needed to become an influencer.

My Story

I am no anything special but it’s just that I thought of Instagram as the thing which could provide me some opportunities as I was seeing so many people getting paid well and living a better life just by having a substantial following on Instagram.

So, I started it around 2 years back and started posting random pictures of myself and other things, and sadly it didn't worked at all.

So, I was doing everything I can from, posing memes, adding memes in stories, adding beautiful pictures of myself and the places i visit just to gain a few followers.

But sadly, I was gaining not more than 1-2 followers a day and it was very depressing to see all that and I gave up many times in between as well. It’s been 6 months with just 1000 followers.

So, then after that I started strategising things and took almost every instagram course on the planet and learned from it and implemented it like the right hashtag, location, time to post and way to post the story, following other big accounts and engaging with other popular accounts from same niche.but, I would not say it was all easy many times I felt like giving up or like this is not for me.

But, I had only thing in mind that if I do it then, I will have more opportunities in life and will be able to grow. complete 1 year has passed since I started and I had 4000 followers with good engagement rates, and I was receiving some good brands who come up to me for putting their affiliate links and also for promoting their products.

And then I started going heavy on it, and I started strategising more and more and started growing my following.

But, then suddenly one day, my instagram account was gone and I did everything possible to get it back like contacting to instagram customer service and all, and after everything in vain. I had to start a new account. Thankfully People started following my new account as well, the following is low from previous but I will eventually catch up.

It will be absolutely tempting to use follow for follow posts while you are trying to grow your following. Don't bother.

Don't waste your time with these types of tactics.

You may gain 200 followers, but they will quickly unfollow you over the course of a week or so, and most of the time these types of followers aren't going to be targeted to your niche and won't give you much engagement.

To be an influencer, your followers need to be true fans and be actively engaged.

Instead, follow influencers that already have a great following in your niche and interact and engage with people that are following them!
